Teletherapy

TELETHERAPY

Teletherapy is becoming more and more frequently used in the health professions, including psychotherapy. There are several advantages for you to using this modality.

  • COST and TIME
  1. You save time and money. The time and cost of traveling to the therapist’s office may be substantial for you. The cost of gas and maintenance on your vehicle is gone. Driving in the busy traffic of these large cities is eliminated. Rural folks won’t have to travel long distances and battle the city traffic.
  2. You save money on child care if you are a young parent. No children should in the room during a therapy session. This eliminates distractions or overhearing things inappropriate for them to witness. Appointments can be arranged during the child’s nap time or school hours.
  3. You will not need to search for the office building and parking.
  4. You will save time traveling, reducing much needed time for other activities or rest.
  • EASY and CONFIDENTIAL
  1. It’s easy! All you need is an internet connection. Follow the simple directions for linking with the therapist (simply entering a client portal which is given to you).
  2. I use a HIPPA compliant platform. You are assured that all audio and video conversations are confidential, just as if you were in an office.
  3. If either of us is traveling, we can still continue with our appointments uninterrupted as long as there is an internet connection and you are in a space where you can speak confidentially.
  4. I recommend ear buds unless you are completely alone and there is no one who can overhear us speaking.
  • PAYMENT
  1. The fee for the appointments remains the same as in office appointments. (Remember you save on travel costs!) I recommend and prefer using Venmo, through which you are able to make a direct electronic payment via your bank. It’s even easier than using a credit card.
  2. Credit cards may be used if absolutely necessary. You may present your card if in home or I can manually enter your number for payment. I will also accept cash or checks if we meet in home. I do not accept cash or checks when using teletherapy.
  • HEALTH SAFETY
  1. During the Covid-19 pandemic, it is obviously a safety issue for both of us to meet virtually.
  2. Even after the pandemic has abated, we can continue to meet using teletherapy if we are slightly “under the weather”. If either of us has, for example, a cold (or your child is ill) having a distance appointment is a good way to meet.
